Clarence Thomas

Clarence Thomas, the only black justice on the Supreme Court and argueably the most powerful black man in this country, appointed through controversy and serving in virtual silence, gave his first in depth personal interview with 60 Minutes. I was going to post a blog about my views and opinions on this interview, but I think I'll just post the interview for you to view and leave you to form your own opinions. For those that did not see it and for those that want to experience it again, Clarence Thomas:

Part I

Part II

Part III

I do believe that he is a very honorable man. True and not easily swayed. If he didn't have a standard and was firm with it, he wouldn't be the outstanding man he stands to be today!

Thanks for posting that. I'm still going to watch my cokes for pubic hair when good ole Clarence is around though... :-)

I don't know what to think about good ole Uncle Thomas. I know that anytime one black person gets into a place of power and they are not all ebonics and saggy pants they are sometime considered sell outs. I try not to buy into all that crap but I know that I have. I will say one thing, He didn't listen to his grand dad about looking a white women in the eye, huh.

Thanks for the post. I did not see the interview and found it to be very insightful. I will not pass judgement on Mr. Thomas but I will say this. He know damn well that he use to refer to himself as Long Dong Silver. Hell, that's as good ass name...He should be proud of it.

As with most people, I think that there are some things that I like about him and some things that I don't. But isn't that everyone. My boss who is white bought his book and loved it. He is going to let me borrow it and I can't wait.

I have no problem with Justice Thomas. He is one of the greatest thinkers of our time and that interview on 60 minutes was excellent! Hopefully more of our people will look to him as a viable roll model rather than that half a dollar character!

I'm not a fan of Justice Thomas. I just don't like his uber-conservative views on most things.

He's still incredibly bitter over his confirmation years ago. For his own good, he should let that whole thing go.

First time I have heard of him. Seems like a regular joe, what's the problem? Wanting a handout from someone who worked his way to the top? seems like thats what people want from him...

I really didn't know too much about the man before I watched the 60 Minutes interview. (The only thing I remembered beforehand was that whole controversy with Anita Thomas.) But now I can say that I have a newfound respect for the man. No, I don't like everything he's about, but I do admire anyone who has overcome big obstacles to achieve a high level of success (as he has done).
